We have been told there are records of a Mere United Cricket Club having been originally formed in 1867.
For most of the 20th century the club played on an excellent wicket at Mere's recreation ground and enjoyed considerable success particularly in the 1980's.
Sadly, the club's pavilion was destroyed by fire in 2002 and the club temporarily folded until being revived in it's current format in 2007.
We would love to hear from anyone who has any additional information about Mere cricket teams of past years no matter how big or small.
