CROATIA TOUR 2017 - SPLIT & THE ISLAND OF VIS

2007 – 2017

Not one cricket season passes without plentiful conversations (usually after an ale fuelled evening in the Walnut Tree) regarding a cricket tour; the next one; the previous one; the best tour from years ago; the dream tour…

The feedback from previous tours and the one question that always crops up time and time again in these conversations is, why don’t we go abroad? Enough of the idle chat, here is the opportunity to make history with Mere CC.

To celebrate ten years since the reformation of Mere Cricket Club I am proposing to mark the significant milestone with a tour to Croatia. The milestone only achieved due to the hard work of many dedicated club members. Time to reward your hard efforts. The initial organisation has already begun. Not only do I need the minimum requirement of 12 cricketers, EVERYONE IS WELCOME to join in the celebration and make the trip; scorers, umpires, supporters, wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends, Presidents, Vice Presidents… Why not tag some days on before or after to make a holiday of it?

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

It is impossible to give a definitive figure so far ahead but based on 2015 and 2016 prices the trip will cost approximately £400. This includes more than you think - return flights from Gatwick, internal transport in Croatia including return ferry tickets to the Island of Vis, match fees including refreshment, food, water and BEER, Saturday evening dinner and presentations with Sir William Hoste Cricket Club... Don't forget, half a litre of beer costs £1.80 - refreshingly reasonable.

There will always be some expense while out there but I hope £400 will be inclusive of costs not normally covered up front.

There are a number of ways to sign up. The best way to sign up is to get hold of the Mere CC bank details and set up standing order of £20 per month starting this month for 20 months making your final payment in August 2017. Failing that and variation of standing orders would be great. Failing that put a deposit down of £100 cash or cheque.

A minimum payment will be needed when booking the flights which is likely to be at the end of the 2016 season. Up until that point you will be entitled to a full refund should you change your mind.

As always it will be a first come first served basis. Cricketing friends outside of Mere CC are also welcome to ensure we have the minimum of 12 cricketers on the plane.
