Dear All

The 2016 cricket season is just around the corner!

I know many of you have been preparing fastidiously over the winter in readiness for that first leather on willow action encounter on Duchy Manor in late April. The Chairman/wicket keeper Mark Cassidy’s Spa program has intensified as the season draws ever closer, Matt Pitts has embarked on a heavy smoking program over the winter which see him through nicely for the first game in April, the skipper has purchased himself a new bat with money used from the family food shopping account and I understand Dave Rutherford has increased his alcohol intake tenfold while attending the Australian Queensland Institute of Sport to condition himself into the next David Boon.

Bearing in mind many of you will have had your own personal fitness and cricket training programs in place since October last year, it has been deemed unnecessary by the committee to enrol the squad in a high intensity pre-season. One net session has  been considered sufficient – a finishing school if you like. The details of which are below. I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

WHEN: Friday 1st April 7-9pm

WHERE: All Hallows School, East Cranmore, BA4 4SF.

HOW DO I GET THERE: Its approximately 25mins from Mere. Coming from the Frome direction turn left off the A361 down Turnpike Lane. After about 100 metres take the first left and not straight ahead into the main school entrance. Then turn right into the school car park. The sports hall is on your left as you turn into the carpark.

Please visit the website for the Spring edition of MCC Player Focus. In this edition I catch up with 2015 Players’ Player of the Season Charlie White to get an insight into how he feels his award winning season went last summer, what he believes won him the much coveted Players’ Player Award and what he is looking forward to for the 2016 season.

Best wishes,

Duncan
